Which Casa Andina tier you actually want
Casa Andina runs several tiers under one brand, and because they share a booking engine it is easy to compare the wrong ones. In practice the choice is:
- Premium — full-service hotels with restaurants, larger rooms and, at some properties, a spa or pool. The right pick for a longer stay or a trip where the hotel is part of the holiday.
- Select — mid-range, central, breakfast usually included, business-friendly. Best value for city stays and short stops.
- Standard — simple rooms in good locations, aimed at travellers who are out all day and only need a clean base.
Because the group’s properties cluster in the same handful of cities, a Select hotel in the centre often beats a Premium one further out for a two-night stop.
Altitude is a booking decision, not a detail
This matters more than the room category for anyone routing through the Andes. Cusco sits at roughly 3,400m and Puno higher still, while Lima is at sea level. Arriving straight into Cusco and walking uphill with luggage on day one is how people lose two days of a trip to altitude sickness.
The usual fix is to build the itinerary so you gain height gradually — Lima, then the Sacred Valley at around 2,800m, then Cusco — and to book the first Andean night somewhere you can reach without a climb. Casa Andina has properties across those altitudes, so this is something the booking can actually solve. Oxygen-assisted rooms exist at some high-altitude hotels and are worth asking about if you are sensitive.
How to apply a Casa Andina promo code
- Search your city and dates on the official booking site and choose the property and rate.
- Find the promotional or corporate code field — on hotel booking engines it usually appears on the search or rate-selection step, before payment rather than after.
- Enter the code exactly as shown and re-run the search so the rates reload.
- Confirm the nightly rate or total has changed before continuing.
Codes on hotel sites commonly restrict themselves to particular properties, rate plans or travel dates. If yours is refused, try shifting the dates rather than assuming the code is dead.
Where the savings come from on a Peru trip
- Non-refundable and advance-purchase rates. Normally the largest single reduction on offer, and larger than most codes. Only worth it once flights and train tickets are booked.
- Length of stay. Rates per night fall on longer bookings, and a three-night stay in one city often costs little more than two.
- Booking direct. Loyalty rates and included breakfast are usually direct-only, and a direct reservation is easier to change than an agency one.
- Season. The Andean dry season is peak and priced accordingly; the wet months are considerably cheaper, with the trade-off of rain and some trail closures. The shoulder weeks either side are the value window.
What is not in the room rate
Two things to budget separately. Airport and station transfers in Cusco and Puno are rarely included and are worth pre-booking rather than negotiating on arrival. And foreign visitors to Peru staying on a tourist entry are generally exempt from the local sales tax on hotel accommodation when they show a passport and entry record at check-in — which means the rate you are quoted and the rate you are charged can differ. Keep your passport and immigration record to hand at reception.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I enter a Casa Andina promo code?
In the promotional or corporate code field on the booking search or rate-selection page, before the payment step.
Can I combine a promo code with a member rate?
Generally no — hotel booking engines apply one discount per reservation. Price both and take the lower total.
Is breakfast included?
It depends on the tier and the rate plan. Select and Premium rates often include it; the cheapest Standard rates often do not. The rate description says so before you pay.
Which Casa Andina hotel is best for Machu Picchu?
Most visitors base themselves in the Sacred Valley or Cusco and travel to Aguas Calientes by train. Staying in the valley the night before an early train is easier than starting from Cusco.
Are the rates refundable?
Flexible rates allow cancellation up to a stated deadline; advance-purchase rates are cheaper and non-refundable. The terms appear with the rate at checkout.
Do I need to book transfers separately?
Usually yes. Some properties offer a paid transfer that can be added to the reservation, which is worth arranging in advance for late arrivals.
