Match the unit to what you will actually run
The expensive mistake here is buying on capacity alone. Two numbers decide whether a unit works for you:
- Output in watts — decides what it can run. A fridge drawing 150W continuously needs a much higher surge rating to start its compressor. If output is below that surge, it will not run at all, no matter how big the battery.
- Capacity in watt-hours — decides how long. Divide capacity by the device’s draw for a rough runtime; a 1,000Wh unit runs a 100W device for roughly eight hours after losses.
Check the surge rating of your highest-draw appliance first, then size the capacity to the hours you need.
Battery chemistry is worth checking
Newer ALLPOWERS units use LiFePO4 cells, rated for thousands of charge cycles — many years of regular use. Older or cheaper models use standard lithium-ion with a shorter cycle life.
