Measure before you order anything
This is the whole job, and it is where almost every wrong order comes from. Trampoline parts are not interchangeable between brands or even between model years, so measure rather than trusting the size printed on the box:
- Frame diameter — measure across the top of the frame from outside edge to outside edge, through the centre. On a rectangle, measure both sides.
- Spring count — count them, all the way round. Two 14ft trampolines can take 72 or 96 springs and the mats are different.
- Spring length — measured hook tip to hook tip with the spring off the frame and relaxed.
- Number of enclosure poles for a net, and whether the net mounts inside the pads or outside the frame.
What wears out, and in what order
Spring pads go first because they take the sun; then the net; then the mat; then the springs. If the mat is stretched enough that the bounce feels dead, replacing springs alone will not fix it. Replacing the mat and springs together is usually cheaper than doing them in separate orders once shipping is counted.

Safety note
Replace a net or pad that is torn rather than patching it, and check the springs for stretched or unhooked coils each spring. Most trampoline injuries involve the frame and springs rather than the mat, which is exactly what the pads are there to cover.
